What does multi-trip travel insurance cover?
At Fast Cover, multi-trip insurance is available to provide cover under a range of benefits to help you deal with and take steps to be prepared for many unexpected and unforeseen circumstances that may arise before or during your trips.
This is a summary only. Terms, conditions, exclusions and limits apply. Not all benefits apply to all policies. Read the PDS and TMD before buying.
Unexpected natural disaster or unexpected illness can quickly derail travel plans, and your pre-paid bookings can add up. Fast Cover’s Trip Cancellation Expenses benefit may help reimburse the non-refundable portion of your prepaid travel costs, such as flights, accommodation, or tours, if you’re required to cancel due to a covered event.*
You can select the date you want your annual multi-trip travel insurance to start. Your cancellation benefit will begin from the start date you select, not the date you purchase the policy. This allows you to set your cover to begin when you need it most for your upcoming trips.*
Flight delays can happen especially when you travel often. If your pre-booked transport is cancelled and rescheduled or delayed due to a covered event, Fast Cover’s Travel Delay Expenses benefit may reimburse the reasonable cost of additional meals and accommodation.*
Our Travel Delay Expenses benefit may be able to provide cover for the reimbursement of reasonable additional meals and accommodation expenses up to $200 for each traveller (excluding dependants) for each 24-hour period if your scheduled transport is delayed for at least 6 hours from the time your transport was scheduled to depart.*
Frequent travellers know that severe weather events, natural disasters, or airline strikes can unexpectedly disrupt travel plans. If your scheduled or connecting transport is cancelled, delayed, shortened or diverted due to a covered event that occurs after your Certificate of Insurance is issued, our Trip Disruption Expenses benefit may help cover the reasonable cost of additional accommodation and travel arrangements you need to continue your journey.*
Our Trip Disruption Expenses benefit is available to provide cover for the reimbursement of your reasonable additional travel, accommodation and meal expenses which you cannot recover from any other source, if a disruption to your trip occurs during your trip which is outside of your control and arises from the reasons covered by your policy and explained in the PDS.*
Whether it’s a lost suitcase on a weekend getaway or a stolen laptop on a business trip, luggage mishaps can happen anytime. Fast Cover’s multi-trip travel insurance provides cover for your luggage and personal items including phones, cameras, and laptops if they are lost, stolen, or accidentally damaged in a covered situation.*
Limits and sub-limits apply to how much you can claim for each item. Conditions including situations in which we would provide cover apply.*
If you become unexpectedly sick or injured while travelling overseas, getting emergency medical help overseas can make all the difference. Fast Cover may be able to provide cover for the reasonable cost of getting you to the nearest hospital or even flying you back to Australia, in circumstances covered under your policy.*
This cover might be especially valuable for cruise travellers, where a medical evacuation from a ship may be required. With cruise cover automatically included in Frequent Traveller Saver policy, you'll have cover if you need to be transferred off a ship to a hospital on shore or brought back home to for treatment depending on your circumstances.*
An unexpected trip to a hospital overseas is the last thing you want on your itinerary. If you’re struck with Bali Belly, break a bone in the US, or need surgery in Europe, Fast Cover may be able to help with overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses in circumstances covered under your policy.*
Fast Cover’s multi-trip travel insurance cover can provide cover against the financial burden of reasonable and unexpected medical treatment, hospital stays, and prescribed medications you may need while overseas due to illness or injury, where these costs are not otherwise reimbursed.*
For cruise holidays, the same cover applies. An unplanned visit to the on-board doctor is never ideal, but if you become unexpectedly sick or injured while on your overseas cruise or on-board an Australian cruise, this benefit can provide cover for the medical expenses you incur to see the ship’s doctor, in situations covered under your policy. However, this benefit does not extend to medical expenses or transportation provided on land in Australia.*
Even experienced travellers can encounter unexpected medical emergencies while travelling. We’re here to help with Aussie based support when you need it most. Fast Cover’s Aussie based team of experts are available to provide 24/7 support for overseas medical emergencies wherever you are, depending on your situation and location.*

Locating and arranging overseas medical treatment or hospital admission
Coordinating approved medical evacuation or repatriation
Providing guidance on accessing local medical support services*

What is multi-trip travel insurance and how does it work?
Multi-trip travel insurance policies such as Fast Cover’s Frequent Traveller Saver policy are designed for Aussies who take more than one trip a year. Instead of arranging a new policy each time you travel, a multi-trip policy covers you for multiple journeys over a 12-month period under a single policy, with cruise cover being automatically included without an additional cost.
Fast Cover’s multi-trip travel insurance provides cover for an unlimited number of trips within that 12-month period, as long as each journey begins and ends in Australia and does not exceed the maximum trip length set out in your policy. You can choose from 15, 25, 40, or 63 days. This means you can travel as often as you like during the year, for holidays, work trips, or visits to family overseas, without having to purchase a new travel insurance policy each time.*
If part of your year includes time at sea, Fast Cover’s multi-trip travel insurance includes automatic cruise cover at no extra cost. This means you don’t need to add a separate option to your policy, your medical, cancellation, and luggage cover can still apply while you’re on a domestic or international cruise, subject to policy conditions and limits.*
Your multi trip travel insurance automatically activates whenever you leave Australia during the policy period, giving your ongoing access to benefits such as Overseas Emergency Medical and Hospital Expenses, Trip Cancellation Expenses, Luggage and Personal Effects, and Overseas 24/6 Emergency Medical Assistance. Whether you’re travelling for a weekend getaway, an overseas conference, or a family visit, the same level of cover applies to every journey subject to the terms and conditions of your Frequent Traveller Saver policy.*
If you’re travelling within Australia under your annual multi-trip policy, please note that some benefits such as benefits for overseas medical cover do not apply. This is because medical expenses in Australia are covered by Medicare or your private health insurance. Always review the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) to understand which benefits are available for your domestic travel.
You have the option of adding cover for your accompanying spouse or partner and dependant children or grandchildren under Fast Cover’s multi-trip policy provided they are travelling on the same itinerary as you for 100% of any of the trips within the 12-month policy period.*
Any accompanying spouse, partner or dependant children or grandchildren covered under your policy will be listed on your Certificate of Insurance.
All travellers listed on your Certificate of Insurance will share the overall benefit limits of the policy, meaning that the combined total of all claims made by everyone on the policy cannot exceed the benefit amount shown in the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
Compared to a single trip policy, which only applies to one continuous journey, a multi-trip policy provides continuous cover across all trips you take during the year. It can be a practical and cost-effective option for frequent flyers, business travellers, couples who travel regularly, or families who enjoy multiple holidays throughout the year.
Fast Cover’s Frequent Traveller Saver policy simplifies the travel insurance process with one purchase, one policy, and consistent cover every time you travel.

Do I need multi-trip travel insurance?
Whether you’re taking regular business flights, family holidays, or quick weekend escapes, Fast Cover’s multi-trip travel insurance makes it easier to stay covered for every trip you take within a year.*
If you’re wondering whether you need multi-trip travel insurance or if it’s right for you, here are some common situations you might want to consider, and how our Frequent Traveller Saver policy may provide cover for them.
If you travel more than once a year whether it’s for work, family visits, or leisure, a multi-trip policy can save you time and effort. Rather than arranging separate single trip policies, you’ll be covered for unlimited trips during a 12-month period, each up to your chosen trip duration (15, 25, 40, or 63 days).*
This option can be especially useful for frequent flyers, business travellers, or couples who take regular short holidays. The Frequent Traveller Saver policy ensures consistent cover every time you travel, including cover for overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses, trip cancellation expenses, and cover for your luggage and personal items.*
If your travel plans include one or more cruises, whether it’s a short domestic journey or an international voyage, Fast Cover’s multi-trip travel insurance includes automatic cruise cover at no extra cost. This means your medical, cancellation, and luggage benefits can still apply while you’re on board the cruise ship, subject to policy limits, terms and conditions.*
When you’re travelling multiple times a year, the last thing you want is the stress of unexpected medical bills overseas. Whether it’s food poisoning in Asia, a broken bone in Europe, or a sudden illness while on a cruise, Fast Cover’s multi trip travel insurance gives you medical cover wherever you go.*
This includes cover for overseas emergency medical and hospital expenses if you become unexpectedly sick or injured while travelling, helping with the financial burden of medical expenses. You’ll also have access to Fast Cover’s 24/7 Emergency Assistance team, who may be able to help arrange medical treatment, coordinate evacuation or repatriation, and guide you through local medical services when the unexpected happens.*
No one wants to think about the worst-case scenarios, but accidents can happen during travel.
Fast Cover’s multi-trip travel insurance includes Accidental Death and Permanent Disability benefits, which can provide financial assistance if a covered accident or event results in death or permanent disability while travelling.*
Frequent travellers know plans can change, from natural disasters or airline strikes. The Trip Disruption Expenses and Travel Delay Expenses benefits available under your Frequent Traveller Saver policy may help with the reasonable cost of additional meals, accommodation, or alternative transport if your travel is disrupted by reasons covered under your policy.*
When you travel often, lost, stolen or damaged luggage and personal items doesn’t just affect one trip, it can create ongoing hassles that disrupt your future plans too. Replacing essentials like your laptop, camera, or favourite travel gear between journeys can be costly.
With Fast Cover’s Luggage and Personal Effects benefit, cover is available to protect against loss, theft, or accidental damage to your luggage and personal belongings on any trip throughout the year. Benefit limits, sub-limits, and conditions apply, so it’s important to check your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for full details.*

What is not covered in our multi-trip travel insurance?
It’s important to know not just what your travel insurance covers, but also what it doesn’t, so you can choose the right policy for your needs. As with all policies, many situations and activities will have terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and sub limits that you need to be aware of and consider before buying travel insurance.
These are examples only. Read the PDS and TMD before buying. Claims are assessed individually in accordance with your policy, PDS and Certificate of Insurance.
If you’re injured while breaking the law overseas, your multi-trip travel insurance is unlikely to provide cover for that incident. This includes situations such as riding a motorcycle without a helmet, driving without a valid licence, or operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Local laws vary between countries, what’s legal in Australia might not be overseas. For example, engaging in illegal drug use or carrying prohibited substances could lead to criminal charges and your claim being declined. Always check local laws before travelling, as travel insurance does not cover illegal activities.
Not every activity is automatically included in your multi-trip travel insurance policy. If you plan to go quad biking in Bali, or riding a motorcycle in Vietnam, you need to make sure you have the right optional extras included.
For example, if you choose not to add the Motorcycle Pack to your Frequent Traveller Saver policy, an accident while riding or being a passenger on a motorcycle, moped or scooter could leave you responsible for all medical expenses.
It is important to think about what activities you will be participating in so that you have the right cover for the activities you plan to do on your trips throughout the year.
Luggage and personal effects cover is designed to help if your belongings are lost, stolen or accidentally damaged, but you must take reasonable care to protect and secure your luggage and personal items at all times.
If you leave your phone, laptop, or wallet unattended on a café table while stepping away, or if you leave your bag on the beach while swimming, any theft or loss may not be covered. Similarly, if your accommodation provides a safe and you choose not to use it, your claim may be affected if valuables are stolen from your room.
Make sure you always keep your belongings with you or keep them in a secure location or take reasonable measures to always secure them and at all places.
There are exclusions that may apply for regular or routine check-ups, elective treatments or filling regular prescriptions as they are not considered medical emergencies. If you require regular medication, bring enough of what you’ll need for your holiday overseas before you leave Australia. If you choose to have an elective or cosmetic procedure overseas, your multi-trip policy will not cover those expenses. Cover applies only to unexpected illnesses or injuries that occur while travelling.*
Should the Australian Government release a warning on official government Smartraveller website that certain areas overseas are no longer safe to travel to and you still choose to travel there anyway, there may be exclusions that will apply such as if you do not follow advice in the mass media where a travel advisory risk rating of Do Not Travel was issued after policy purchase.
Note: We are unable to offer travel insurance to international destinations that have a ‘Do Not Travel’ warning on official government Smartraveller website. To check which countries we may cover, enter your destination country in the quote box on our website.
Known events are considered as serious situations, from natural disasters like earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, to disease outbreaks, which can affect your holiday plans and also the cover on your overseas travel insurance policy.
If you buy your multi-trip travel insurance cover after an event is a known event, the cover on your policy may be affected. You should check for any Travel Alerts that may have been issued for your overseas travel destination as well as information on the official government Smartraveller website so you know where you stand with regards to the cover that you will have on your international travel insurance policy.
We understand that not every trip goes exactly as planned, and sometimes things just don’t live up to expectations. Maybe the weather in Bali was not as sunny as you hoped, the crowds in Europe made sightseeing a little harder, or your hotel in Thailand didn’t quite match the photos online.
While these situations can be frustrating, they’re not considered insurable events, which means your annual multi-trip travel insurance is not able to cover them. Travel insurance is designed to step in when unexpected events cause financial loss, not when a trip is less enjoyable than you imagined.
As each individual’s circumstances are different, we will assess each claim on a case by case basis and in accordance with your specific circumstances, policy terms and Certificate of Insurance.
