Having lived in Bali for over 10 years, I know exactly what Australians need to know before they go; the things the guidebooks don't always tell you. Combining that with my background in travel insurance means I can give genuinely useful, grounded advice.
About Amelie
Amelie Christabella brings a combination of skills that's genuinely rare in the travel insurance content space: two years of hands-on experience in travel insurance sales and customer service, a strong working knowledge of Fast Cover's products and policy wording, and over a decade of living in Bali.
Amelie started her journey in travel insurance by working directly with Australian travellers as a sales and customer service agent; answering complex policy enquiries, helping customers understand their coverage options, and guiding them through pre-existing condition declarations and medical screening. She also spent a year in customer service within financial services. That frontline experience means she understands the questions Australians actually ask, the concerns they have before buying, and the moments that matter most in the purchase journey.
She has completed a Bachelor of Social Science in Politics and International Relations at UNSW. In 2025, she was recognised as Employee of the Month six times; a reflection of the care and consistency she brings to her work.
Areas of expertise
Amelie's specialist knowledge covers travel insurance product wording, coverage, and the quote and application process, as well as medical screening and pre-existing condition assessments built from years of directly assisting customers through those processes. She has deep practical insight into how travellers think about insurance: their common questions, hesitations, and what they need to hear to make a confident, informed decision.
Her standout area of expertise is Bali and Indonesia. After more than 10 years on the island, she has genuine on-the-ground knowledge: the best areas to stay, local rules, cultural etiquette, the common risks Australians face (road accidents, food and water illness, surf injuries), and how to navigate local hospitals and medical facilities in an emergency. This lived experience sets her Bali content apart from anything a desk-based writer could produce.
Real world travel experience
Amelie is one of the most well-travelled people on the Fast Cover team. She's explored more than a dozen countries across Asia and the Pacific solo, with a partner, and with family. Her adventure activity list is something else entirely: she's skied, scuba dived to 30 metres, summited Mount Agung in Bali at 3,031 metres (the highest point on the island), and tackled everything from white-water rafting and sandboarding to martial arts, flying fox, and sailing. This isn't travel for the sake of ticking boxes; it's exactly the kind of active, adventurous exploration that makes a real difference when writing about what travel insurance actually needs to cover.
