Am I covered for COVID-19?
You may have cover for overseas emergency medical, hospital and medical evacuation costs if you are diagnosed with COVID-19 while you are in a country listed on your Certificate of Insurance. This cover is available on all overseas policies and has unlimited benefit limits. Please note that COVID-19 medical cover is not available for domestic travel, including any domestic portion of an overseas trip where Australia is listed on your Certificate of Insurance.
Depending on your policy, you may also have COVID-19 trip cancellation or trip disruption cover in certain situations, such as if you unexpectedly test positive and can't meet a cross-border entry requirement, you are refused boarding due to a positive test or failed screening, or a medical practitioner confirms you are medically unfit to travel due to COVID-19. COVID-19 trip cancellation and trip disruption cover is not available under the Basics policy.
Cover under this benefit only applies if the person diagnosed with COVID-19 is named on your Certificate of Insurance. There is no cover for claims related to border closures, lockdowns or other travel restrictions.
Please note that there is a 72-hour no cover period from the time you purchase your policy. Any COVID-19 diagnosis or positive test within this period will not be covered.
